2 Norwegian students raised more than NOK 1M for creating a wearable that gives you the cinema experience on the go.
"We have seen the same thing as everyone else who has tried VR goggles. The image is very low resolution, and for a while, many nausea. Moreover, there is little content available. Movie Mask is designed to view content in 2D. In full resolution says Wahlstrøm who turned up at TU with the new product.
We did try Movie Mask with a regular smartphone, and verily. This was a completely different experience. All have seen video on a smartphone, but this was like having a 100-inch TV on three meters in a dark room.
This is a very inexpensive way to bring the big screen experience whether watching the BBC, Netflix, YouTube, consider pictures, or anything else. The amount of content is about unlimited. Besides, this is very easy. Click phone stuck in the lid. Drag zip and start watching. No buttons and adjustments, says Manheim.
It's been extremely quickly from idea to finished product, but they had hardly done it without helpers.
- Krogh Optics has helped us with the lenses and connected us to Essilor in Kongsberg. Together they have helped us to find the correct geometry yet been honest with that if they were produced on would have been too costly. Therefore, they have helped us to find a cheap and very good producer in India, says Wahlstrøm.
- And then we have got very good help from design company Inventas in Trondheim. There are those who have designed the product and they have been very kind when they wrote hours. One of the designers did finished design while he was on honeymoon and have made equally well our logo as well, shoot Manheim to.
The two students have also received help to fund product. The first support came from TrønderEnergi its aid Monetary syringe. Later, they received 640,000 million from Innovation Norway and a half million from several investors.
