Didimo raises €6.2 million in seed funding
Didimo, a Porto, Portugal-based software startup developing humanized online interactions with a disruptive 3D technology announced securing funding totalling €6.2 million.
The money is a combination of EU grants (€1.8M) and equity (€4.4M / $4.8M). The equity was raised from investors including state VC Portugal Ventures, Portuguese private VCs Bynd Venture Capital (formerly Busy Angels) and LC Ventures, the UK-based Portuguese unicorn Farfetch, and Portuguese startup, investor and accelerator Beta-i. In Didimo's first seed round in 2018, the US Boulder-based accelerator Techstars was also an investor.
The new funds will be used to boost the development team to reinforce existing pilot projects with companies like Sony and Amazon and to build new relationships on its mission to “break down the barriers between the physical and digital worlds.
Didimo, founded in 2016 by CEO Verónica Costa Orvalho, developed an API producing a digital twin of a person that talks like a human and can be created in seconds. The tech requires taking a selfie and uploading it to the cloud, with Didimo's technology creating a 3D version of a person, capable of authentic facial expressions, and speech.
Prior to this round, Didimo raised €1.1M in 2018.
