Kuva Space to raise €4.2M round of seed funding from Finland investors Voima Ventures and Nordic FoodTech VC.

Kuva Space, an Espoo, Finland-based data service provider for global daily data on vegetation and soil, announced the completion of a €4.2M ($4.9M) seed funding round.

The money was raised locally from investors from Finland, led by Voima Ventures and Nordic FoodTech VC, and joined by the ESA InCubed progamme and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland.

Proceeds will be used for the building and launching the first commercial satellites and developing the service pipeline, in addition to taking forward the business development side of the company.

Kuva Space, founded in 2016 as Reaktor Space Lab by CEO Jarkko Antila, developed a service for global, daily and actionable real time data on ecological assets. The company uses space-borne hyperspectral imaging software in order to offer actionable data and insights to enhance agriculture, optimize growth and land use, guide investments and financial decisions, measure regional carbon sequestration rates and even prevent large-scale forest fires or detect gas leaks.
