OnRobot bought the assets of Blue Workforce and hired its people.
Blue Workforce, an Aalborg, Denmark-based company manufacturing a lightweight industrial robot for pick-and-place operations, announced that it entered into an agreement for being acquired by the Odense, Denmark-based On Robot.
The deal, which has financial details undisclosed, was made shortly after Blue Workforce filed for bankruptcy after an unsuccessful funding round.
OnRobot acquired the design rights for the products and will integrate Blue Workforce‘s products, inventory, and tools into its development department. 12 of the 30 Blue Workforce developers will continue to work in Aalborg for On Robot.
Blue Workforce, founded in in 2012 by entrepreneur Preben Hjørnet together with his wife and his son, built the RAGNAR Robot, a lightweight industrial robot which can be used for pick-and-place operations.
In 2017, Blue Workforce raised $2.8M for 16% of the company in an investment deal with an undisclosed Chinese investor.
OnRobot, led by Enrico Krog Iversen, was founded in 2015, and merged with Perception Robotics and OptoForce in 2018 and then acquired Purple Robotics in the autumn of 2018. The company's product range includes a wide range of robotic equipment such as electric grippers, force and torque sensors, vacuum grippers and tool changers.
