PortalOne secures $15 million from international investors.
PortalOne, an Oslo, Norway and San Francisco, USA-based developer of a hybrid gaming company, announced the completion of a $15 million seed round.
The money was raised from a whole range of new and existing investors, including Talis Capital and Seedcamp (both from UK) and US-based Founders Fund, TQ Ventures, Coatue Management, Signia Venture Partners, and Rogue Capital Partners.
Existing Norwegian shareholder SNÖ Ventures also contributed to the round, along angel investors Kevin Lin, co-founder of Twitch, Mike Morhaime, co-founder of Blizzard and Dreamhaven, Amy Morhaime, co-founder of Dreamhaven, Marc Merrill, co-founder of Riot Games, Xen Lategan, and Eugene Wei.
Last but not least, gaming company Atari (also existing shareholder) and the camera technology company Arri also participated in the raise.
PortalOne, founded in 2018 by siblings Bård Anders Kasin and Stig Olav Kasin, is a hybrid games company, delivering live game experiences with stunning visuals and next level interactivity.
The company does that with a game engine technology designed for mixed reality content and combining game and live shows for providing an engaging gaming experience. On top of the two games they are running, they add live media content - be them live shows or live contests, with the objective is to build a social community around the game engine itself, making both interactive and addictive to watch.
PortalOne was previously seeded in a few rounds by Founders Fund and by a couple of Nordic early stage investors, and last raised in October 2020, in a round backed by Coatue.
