Solid Clouds adds $2.5M in an investment round led by Kjölur fjárfestingarfélag.

Solid Clouds, a Reykjavik, Iceland-based gaming company raised $2.5M in investment funding.

The money comes from existing and new investors, including Kjölur fjárfestingarfélag. At the same time, the company also received a growth grant from the Technology Development Fund.

Solid Clouds, founded in 2013 by CEO Stefán Gunnarsson, is a company developing cross-platform gaming solutions with the ambition is to be a leading MMORTS company. The company has developed Starborne, a multiplayer strategy game that can be played on any browser or tablet, gathering players against each other, building their own galactic empire, encouraging competition and cooperation to succeed. The centerpiece of the game is a beautifully rendered map that clearly highlights the actions and options available to players, giving them a great sense of what is going on and what they have achieved.

Prior to this deal, Soild Clouds raised $540k in private equity funding and about $450k in grants.
