Teatime Games raises $7.5M in a Series A funding round including Index Ventures, Atomico.

Teatime Games, a Reykjavik, Iceland-based gaming startup, announced closing series A funding totalling $7.5M.

The round was backed by European venture companies Atomico and Index Ventures and the money will be used to hire more engineers and to further develop the company's platform for integration with third party developers.

Teatime Games, founded in 2017 by by Thor Fridriksson, Ymir Finnbogason, Johann Bergthorsson and Gunnar Holmsteinn, is a social games company. The founders are known for being ex-employees of Plain Vanilla, another Iceland-based gaming company, where they worked for the development of QuizUp, a trivia game with more than 100 million users.

In 2017, upon its founding, Teatime Games raised $1.6M in a seed investment round which included the angel investors David Helgason and David Wallerstein as well as Index Ventures.
