Wolf3D, a Talinn, Estonia-based VR developer for gamers, announced securing a seed investment round of $1.3 million.

The funding was provided by a range of investors, including Trind Ventures, Presto Ventures, Koha Capital, Spring Capital and Contriber Ventures. Proceeds will be used to scale the company's product, Ready Player Me, taking it from the browser to the smartphone.

Wolf3D, founded in 2014 and led by CEO Haver Järveoja, started as a developer of personal 3D avatars of people for games and VR/AR communication using a single selfie. The company now aims to provide a persistent identity for the virtual worlds via a virtual identity platform for games and VR named Ready Player Me, which allows anyone to create a full-body avatar from a selfie that’s “transportable” between several games.

Prior to this round, Wolf3D raised about $1.5 million.
