ZenML, a Munich, Germany-based software company developing an extensible open source Machine Learning Operationalization (MLOps) framework for data scientists, announced completing a seed funding round closed at $2.7 million.

The money was raised from investors led by Crane Venture Partners and joined by Richard Socher, Pieter Abbeel, Jim Keller, Dirk Hoke, Nicolas Dessaigne, and Carsten Thoma.

The proceeds will be used to build out the tooling suite in the open and expand its team of the world’s leading ML technologists.

ZenML, founded in 2021 by Adam Probst and Hamza Tahir, built an extensible, open-source MLOps framework that can be used to create production-ready machine learning pipelines. The tool has a flexible syntax, is cloud and tooling agnostic, and has interfaces/abstractions that are catered towards ML workflows. It is available as a lightweight Python library that lets data scientists express their ML workflows as pipelines.
