Liveblocks, a Paris, France-based startup developing a next generation of SaaS products enabling real-time collaborative environments, announced closing a preseed funding round of $1.4 million.

The money was raised from investors led by Americans Boldstart Ventures and British Seedcamp, joined by Logic and Rhythm, Meta Fund, Ian Storm Taylor, Max StoiberBadrul Farooqi, Anthony DiMare and Moritz Plassnig. Proceeds will be used to hire more people and make it a business.

Liveblocks, founded in 2021 by CEO Steven Fabre and Guillaume Salles, developed a set of APIs and tools that helps companies create performant and reliable collaborative experiences. The first tool is a 'presence block' that makes it easier for hundreds of developers to integrate things like live cursors and live avatars into their products with just a few lines of code. Another product the company is working on (still in private beta) is a storage block, defined as a conflict-free live data storage solution that allows people to view and edit the same data in real-time.

Total investments received (USD): 6.4M
