Goo Technologies, a Stockholm, Sweden-based technology company which filed for bankruptcy at the end of 2016, sold part of its assets to Amazon, specifically to Amazon Web Services.

The news was confirrmed on Linkedin and Twitter by Rikard Herlitz, Goo Technologies founder, which says that the acquired tech was revived as Amazon Sumerian. Amazon Sumerian was just announced by Amazon as the “fastest and easiest way to create VR, AR and 3D experiences”.

Goo Technologies, founded in 2012 by Markus Kruger, developed a tool to build online 3D environments. The company was backed by MOOR, with MOOR the majority owner, with roughly 70%. Other investors which lost money on the bankruptcy are GP Bullhound and Edastra.

Before filing for bankruptcy, Goo had had some financial problems for a while, as at the end of 2015 it pivoted its biz model while raising SEK 6M ($700k).
